Key Features:
📋 Rotating Announcements
Messages cycle one at a time across the screen, with a default display time beginning after five minutes of inactivity. This timing can be easily adjusted in real time by the editor of each Google Sheet by entering a different value in seconds in cell G1.
🛠️ Easily Send Targeted Messages Using Google Sheets
Just type your announcements into designated cells within Google Sheets—each sheet typically corresponds to a specific class or group. For example, a high school might use separate sheets for Class of 2026, Class of 2027, Class of 2028, and Class of 2029. This simple structure makes it easy to deliver customized messages to the right students at the right time.
📱 Works on Chromebooks (and More)
Optimized for Chromebooks, but also works on any device running Chrome. Use it for student and/or employee devices, front desk kiosks, or digital signage.
🎨 Supports Images and GIFs
Make your messages visual. Display school logos, teacher highlights, club promotions—even animated Canva graphics. This is done by sharing the link to that graphic from your Google Drive that have privileges set so anyone can view them.
🔒 Free + Premium Options
The free version shows the message you type in cell A1.
To change how long the screen waits before showing the message, enter a number (in seconds) greater than 15 in cell G1.
The premium version allows you to enter as many messages as you would like in cells, A1, A2, A3 ......... Feel free to have your IT Administrator set up and test the free version of School Broadcaster with the following instructions.
